Digital Designer
As a Digital Designer at Designit, I'm part of a multidisciplinary team of people creating products and services that matter. That means designing things that have a meaningful impact for peoples' lives and for business. I've worked with one of the largest banks in the UK, a leading utilities provider, a multinational trade investment firm and a well-known sports brand.

My role is a blend of UX and UI design, as well as elements of research and testing. Working with people from a mix of disciplines that are focussed on human centric design has built my skills in strategic design and critical thinking. On a number of projects I've worked directly with clients - facilitating ideation sessions and sprints.

You have some truly fantastic ideas and it is really great to see them from somebody not employed by Butterfly Conservation, as I’m sure you’ll see things we won’t.

Designer
My time at strategic design consultancy Fish&Co was spent helping companies understand how design could transform their businesses. I worked with a range of clients, including a global telecoms provider, a well-known consumer electronics brand and a number of small startup companies. Due to the often technology focused nature of the projects, I was exposed to and immersed in the ever-expanding world of digital interaction and service design.

I played a major role in delivering inspirational ideas and creatively communicated strategies. During a future vision project for a consumer electronics brand, for example, I was heavily involved throughout the entire design process; from the initial trends study and forecasting, through to the illustration of ideas and the production of a mood piece to capture the project’s vision.

Design Intern
I spent a 5 month internship working as a junior designer at Matter in Bath. As part of a small team of designers, I worked on a variety of projects designing and developing packaging and FMCG products.

The fast-paced nature of much of the work taught me how to create high quality design output on a deadline and helped me improve my skills in visual communication. Working as part of a small team of highly motivated and skilled designers showed me first-hand how important it is to design collaboratively and quickly.

Design Intern
As an industrial design intern at design consultancy Design Innovation in Milan, I was given the challenge of creating a concept of a future ‘E-Kitchen’ for Italian kitchen manufacturer Lubé Cucine. The task involved studies of trends in existing kitchen design, brainstorming ideas with the Design Innovation team and delivering a concept schematic illustrating how the ‘E-Kitchen’ would work.

Design Intern
For 5 weeks I worked as a product design intern at contemporary homewares brand Block Design. During my time there I helped take a number of Block products from concept to delivery, including a set of laser-cut greetings cards which went on sale in a local design boutique. Through this, I gained valuable knowledge of how to produce artwork to be mass manufactured.

First Class BA Hons
I graduated from Northumbria University’s prestigious Design for Industry course with a 1st Class BA Honors degree. In my four years of study there I completed a number of live projects with companies including Bowers & Wilkins, Mamas&Papas, Unilever and Mars. As many of these projects were group-based, I learnt to know my strongest skills and use them to complement those of my peers.

My final year was mainly spent on my Major Project: a strategy to increase public engagement with butterfly conservation. By taking a holistic approach to this complex issue and exploring it from various different angles, I was able to produce an engaging package of work underpinned by robust insights. My work was featured in design magazine Develop3D and was highly praised by the Butterfly Conservation Trust.
